After his young wife died with cancer in 1987, Rashid A. Hamzah was left with the task of raising their then 4 year old son Muhammed. In December 1991 Rashid and his son moved to Kingston, New York to care for his elderly mother. This was the beginning of his quest for Truth. When his son choose Sojourner Truth as a Black History Month assignment, Rashid took Muhammed to see the play "A Woman Called Truth" and became fascinated with this courageous woman. "I'll Have My Child Back" The Sojourner Truth Story is the bases for his play of the same name. Mr.Hamzah, whose background is in television production, is in the process of writing a screenplay and is planning to bring this story to the big screen.
